BTMA seeks policy support in meeting with Tarique

Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) held a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Wednesday.
PM’s Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu confirmed the matter. During the session, they discussed the state of the textile industry, export prospects, and various challenges facing the sector.
BTMA highlighted that the industry’s vital contributions to the national economy and sought government cooperation for the sector’s sustainable development. They requested the PM’s attention regarding necessary policy support to enhance competitiveness in international markets.
Tarique praised the textile industry’s role in driving industrialization, creating employment, and increasing export earnings. He assured BTMA of his cooperation in developing the sector. Moreover, he formed a high-level committee to review and resolve the existing problems within the textile industry.
The meeting was attended by BTMA President Showkat Aziz Russell, Vice President Shamim Islam, former President A Matin Chowdhury, and former Director Syed Enayet Kabir.
Also present were Rajeev Haider, current Director Chowdhury Mohammad Hanif Shoeb, and Badsha Mia, Amanat Shah Group Chairman Helal Mia and Monno Fabrics Managing Director Samiul Islam.
