Prime Minister Invites President Erdogan to Visit Bangladesh

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has extended an invitation to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Bangladesh.
He extended the invitation during a courtesy call by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon on Saturday afternoon.
On this occasion, Tarique Rahman thanked the Turkish Foreign Minister for visiting Bangladesh. Hakan Fidan conveyed the greetings of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
He said this visit is the first step towards elevating Bangladesh-Turkey relations to a strategic level.
Both sides agreed to organize annual Foreign Office Consultations at the foreign minister level.
Additionally, a decision was made to hold a 'Two Plus Two' consultation meeting every year involving the foreign and defense ministers of both countries.
Furthermore, a consultation framework or committee, comprising relevant ministries under the foreign ministers of both nations, will be established to further strengthen political, economic, and strategic cooperation.
The meeting reviewed the overall state of bilateral relations. Specific discussions focused on the Rohingya crisis, climate change, trade and investment, joint production and cooperation, and various regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Present at the meeting from the Bangladesh side were Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam, and Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir.
