Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Information Advisor Zahed Ur Rahman has returned to Dhaka after cancelling his state visit to New Delhi, India.
He arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) around 11:30am on Monday.
Zahed departed from New Delhi airport on an Air India flight on Sunday night, arriving in Colombo, Sri Lanka, early Monday. He then boarded a Sri Lankan Airlines flight at 8am to reach the capital.
Officials said that they are investigating reports that Indian immigration authorities barred the advisor from entering Delhi. The government will determine its next steps after obtaining further details.
His return follows confusion sparked by a media report on Sunday claiming the advisor had been “detained” in Delhi. Dismissing the claims as entirely false, Zahed said, “I am returning to Dhaka. I went to Delhi on Sunday on an official visit.”
