A passenger bus of Sifat Paribahan traveling from Jamalpur to Narayanganj was reportedly robbed in Bhuigar area of Fatullah in Narayanganj.

Five people have been accused of robbing around 25 passengers of cash and mobile phones after threatening them with sharp weapons.

The incident took place around 3:00 am on Saturday (03 October) near the Bhuigar Stand area on the Dhaka Narayanganj Link Road.

According to the passengers, the bus left Jamalpur around 10:00 pm with about 30 to 35 passengers for Narayanganj. After several passengers got off in the Signboard area, the bus reached Bhuigar. Five men boarded the bus there while passengers were getting off. They were carrying sharp weapons.

At the time, around 25 passengers including men and women were on the bus. The robbers threatened the passengers by holding a large knife to the bus driver’s chest. They then allegedly took cash and mobile phones from the passengers one by one before getting off the bus and fleeing.

Biplob, an employee at the Sifat Paribahan ticket counter in the Narayanganj Court area, said, “After the robbers got off the bus around 3:30 am, the bus arrived at the Court area counter with the passengers. The passengers then told us that they had been robbed.”

Fatullah Model Police Station Sub Inspector (SI) Milon Fakir said, “Police members were stationed around the area where the bus was stopped. If anyone had shouted from inside the bus, police would have gone there quickly.”

He said, “After the criminals left, the bus driver and passengers informed police about the incident. The bus driver or passengers can take legal action if they wish.”
