Major reshuffle at top level of police, Faruk to Lead SRB

Amid various questions over handling the law and order situation, the government has brought about a major reshuffle at the top level of the police. This has also brought a change in the leadership of the Special Response Battalion (SRB).
Additional Inspector General (Additional IGP) Ahsan Habib Palash had been serving as the Director General (DG) of the SRB since its formation this September after the dissolution of the specialized unit RAB.
He has been removed, and Additional Inspector General Faruk Ahmed has been made the head of SRB. He had until now been serving as the head of Highway Police. Ahsan Habib has been brought to the Police Headquarters.
Their transfer orders were issued from the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday.
In addition, transfer orders have been issued for 13 officials, including three Additional IGPs, two DIGs, and six officers of the rank of SP.
Following Faruk Ahmed's transfer, Additional IGP Md. Sayedur Rahman has been appointed to the vacant post of head of Highway Police. He had been at the Police Headquarters until now.
Additional IGP Ghazi Jasim Uddin, who was in charge of Industrial Police, has been posted at the Police Telecom organization.
Rajshahi Range DIG Md. Ashik Saeed has been made Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police.
Railway Police DIG Mir Ashraf Ali has been sent to Rajshahi Range.
Nilphamari Superintendent of Police Farhad Hossain Khan has been made Special Superintendent of CID. Munshiganj Superintendent of Police Md. Menhazul Alam has been sent to Nilphamari.
SRB Deputy Director Md. Badruddaza has been transferred to the post of Superintendent of Police in Munshiganj. Another Superintendent of Police serving in SRB, A K M Mamun Khan Chishti, has been sent as Superintendent of Police in Barguna.
Jamalpur Superintendent of Police Farhana Yasmin has been made Deputy Commissioner of DMP. Barguna Superintendent of Police Md. Kudrat E Khuda has been sent to Jamalpur.
