The authorities of Ad-din Hospital have decided to provide Tk 8 million in compensation to each family affected by the deaths of six newborns at the hospital in Moghbazar, Dhaka. The amount was determined through joint discussions between the affected families and the hospital authorities.

Lawyer Mohammad Shishir Monir, who acted as a mediator between the families and the hospital authorities, disclosed the information on Sunday.

Shishir Monir said, “The other benefits previously announced for the affected families will also remain in place.”

Earlier on Saturday, the families of the newborns who died at Ad-din Hospital in Dhaka were offered compensation, lifelong free medical treatment, educational assistance and employment opportunities. The announcement was made at a press conference organized by the hospital authorities, who pledged to stand by the affected families in the long term.

Benefits to be provided to the families

Lifelong free medical treatment: Parents, siblings and children of the affected families will receive all forms of medical treatment free of charge, excluding medicines, at Ad-din Hospital and its affiliated institutions for life time.

Educational support: Family members will be eligible to study tuition-free at educational institutions run by Ad-din, subject to meeting admission requirements. For medical colleges or other high-cost programs, special scholarships or tuition fee waivers will be available.

Employment opportunities: Eligible family members will be offered job opportunities within Ad-din according to their qualifications.
