Three More Children Die from Measles and Related Symptoms

Three more children have died in the past 24 hours due to measles and related symptoms in the country. With this, the total death toll has risen to 588.

In the same period, 1,179 new cases of measles symptoms have been identified.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room reported the information on Monday afternoon.

It stated that three children died in the last 24 hours with measles-like symptoms. However, no child was confirmed to have died specifically from measles infection during this period.

Since March 15 to present date, a total of 498 children have died with suspected measles symptoms nationwide, while 90 children have died from confirmed measles infection. In total, 588 children have died due to measles and related symptoms during this period.

In addition, 45 children were diagnosed with measles in the last 24 hours, while 1,134 patients were recorded with measles-related symptoms. During this time, 1,016 children were newly admitted to hospitals, and 881 children were discharged after treatment.

According to DGHS data, since March 15, the total number of suspected measles cases stands at 72,070, while confirmed cases are 9,094.

Among them, 57,902 patients were admitted to hospitals, and 53,722 of them have already recovered and returned home after receiving discharge.
