8 more die of dengue in 24 hours

Eight more people have died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 209 this year. Additionally, 1,782 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals during the same period.
This information was revealed in a regular dengue report released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.
According to the DGHS, six of the deaths occurred over the past day, with three recorded in the Dhaka South City Corporation area and three in the Khulna division. Meanwhile, one death each was reported in the Dhaka North City Corporation area and the Mymensingh division.
The highest number of new hospitalizations in the last 24 hours was recorded in the Dhaka division, with 371 patients. During this period, 288 patients were admitted in the Chittagong division, 286 in the Khulna division, 194 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 164 in the Barisal division, 151 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 130 in the Rajshahi division, 108 in the Mymensingh division, 73 in the Rangpur division, and 17 in the Sylhet division.
In total, 209 people have died of dengue nationwide from January 1 to September 24 this year. Among them, 100 deaths were reported in the Dhaka division alone, including the two city corporations. Furthermore, 37 deaths occurred in the Khulna division, 21 in the Chittagong division, 20 in the Mymensingh division, 16 in the Barisal division, 10 in the Rajshahi division, 4 in the Rangpur division, and 1 in the Sylhet division.
