Highest daily death toll from dengue

A record 10 people died of dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 1,996 new patients were admitted to hospitals.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said this in a press release issued Tuesday, October 6.
The release said 10 people had died of dengue in the past 24 hours. According to DGHS data, this is the highest number of dengue deaths recorded in a single day this year. The death toll from dengue this year has now reached 281.
According to the DGHS, 204 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in Barishal Division, 252 in Chattogram Division, 480 in Dhaka Division outside the city corporations, 294 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 187 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 302 in Khulna Division, 96 in Mymensingh Division, 199 in Rajshahi Division, 75 in Rangpur Division and 18 in Sylhet Division in the past 24 hours.
As of October 6 this year, a total of 90,356 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country. During this period, 84,299 dengue patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals. In the past 24 hours alone, 1,964 patients were discharged.
According to DGHS data, a total of 102,861 people were infected with dengue in Bangladesh from January 1 to December 31, 2025. During that period, 413 people died of the disease.
From January 1 to December 31, 2024, a total of 101,214 people were infected with dengue in the country, while 575 people died.
In 2023, from January 1 to December 31, a total of 1,705 people died of dengue. During the same period, 321,179 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals.
