Measles-like Symptoms Claim Five More Children’s Lives

At least five more children have died in the past 24 hours, from 8 pm Wednesday to 8 am Thursday, with measles-like symptoms in Bangladesh, while 1,148 new cases have been reported during the same period.
According to a regular bulletin on measles issued Thursday by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the total number of deaths linked to measles and related symptoms has reached 666 since March 15. Of these, 93 deaths have been confirmed as measles, while 573 are classified as suspected cases.
The report said that 1,009 suspected measles cases were recorded in the last 24 hours. From March 15 to June 18, the total number of suspected cases has reached 89,804.
During the same period, confirmed measles cases stand at 139, while the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 has reached 10,733, the bulletin added.
It further stated that 74,184 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals since March 15, while 70,503 patients have recovered and been discharged during the same period.
