One Child Dies with Measles-like Symptoms

A child has died in the country within the past 24 hours with symptoms of measles, while 136 new infections have been confirmed during the same period.
According to the regular measles bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 93 people have died from measles since 15 March. In addition, 564 more deaths have been recorded among individuals showing measles-like symptoms. The highest number of deaths among suspected cases 239 has been reported in Dhaka, followed by 87 deaths in the Rajshahi Division.
The DGHS said that between 8:00 am Monday and 8:00 am Tuesday, 1,006 people with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country, of whom 938 were hospitalized. During this period, 136 cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.
In the past 24 hours, the highest number of patients with measles-like symptoms was recorded in Dhaka hospitals with 342 cases, while the lowest number of admissions was in Rangpur with 28 cases.
Since 15 March, a total of 87,929 people with measles-like symptoms have sought hospital treatment nationwide, and 10,523 cases have been confirmed as measles through testing.
