Eight More Die from Measles and Measles-Like Symptoms

At least eight more people have died across the country from measles and measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours.
The information was disclosed in a statement issued today, Wednesday (May 13), by the health authorities’ control room.
According to the control room bulletin information, 1,489 suspected measles cases were reported in the last 24 hours. From March 15 to May 13, the total number of suspected measles cases stood at 53,056.
In the past 24 hours, 126 confirmed measles cases were recorded. This brings the total number of confirmed cases from March 15 to May 13 to 7,150.
Between March 15 and May 13, a total of 38,054 patients with suspected measles were admitted to hospitals. During the same period, 33,832 patients recovered and were discharged.
The statement further said that seven people died from suspected measles in the last 24 hours. From March 15 to May 13, deaths from suspected measles totaled 363.
In addition, one person died from confirmed measles in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed measles deaths during the period to 69.
