Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain has said that measles patients are being provided all internationally recognized forms of treatment.
He said the government has been able to arrange measles vaccines in a very short time under the current situation, but it will take some time to see the full impact of vaccination. He also stated that hospital capacity will be expanded if the situation deteriorates further.
The minister made the remarks while speaking to reporters after visiting the DNCC Hospital in Mohakhali on Friday afternoon.
He said there is no lack of sincerity in the government’s treatment of measles patients, adding that all internationally recognized treatments are being provided.
“There is no internationally recognized treatment that is not being provided to measles patients. The government is making every possible effort. However, due to multiple challenges in a short period, we are facing difficulties in managing the situation,” he said.
He also acknowledged the difficult conditions, saying that due to multiple challenges within a short time, full success in all areas is not immediately visible. However, he added that no negligence has been allowed in the healthcare system.
The health adviser further emphasized that no treatment method outside international standards is being applied.
Meanwhile, 12 more people died from measles and related symptoms in the past 24 hours across the country. With these latest deaths, the nationwide death toll from measles and its symptoms has reached 451 in just two months.
