Measles and symptoms claim 16 more lives

Across the country, 16 more people have died in the last 24 hours (from Saturday 8:00 am to Sunday 8:00 am) due to measles and related symptoms. During the same period, 1,434 new cases were reported.
The information was disclosed in the latest report from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday.
According to the report, all 16 deaths in the last 24 hours were due to suspected measles symptoms. Of them, the highest 10 deaths occurred in Dhaka, followed by 2 in Mymensingh, and 1 each in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Barishal, and Sylhet divisions.
The DGHS said that since March 15 to Sunday, a total of 442 deaths have been recorded from suspected measles cases, while 86 deaths were confirmed as measles. During the same period, 50,558 patients with suspected measles were admitted to hospitals across the country, of whom 46,214 have recovered and been discharged.
Since March 15 this year, 63,813 children have shown measles symptoms, and so far 8,622 cases have been confirmed as measles.
