Six children die with measles symptoms, death toll rises to 816

Another six children have died with measles and measles like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, from 8 pm Friday to 8 am Saturday. With these latest fatalities, the death toll from measles and related symptoms since March 15 has risen to 816. The information was disclosed in the Directorate General of Health Services' regular measles report released on Saturday.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, another 691 people developed measles and measles like symptoms over the past day. Of them, 78 were confirmed to have measles. Overall, since March 15, a total of 721 people have died with symptoms, while 95 have died after being infected with confirmed measles.
The total number of people who have developed measles symptoms has now reached 122,763. During the same period, a total of 15,272 measles cases have been confirmed.
The Directorate General of Health Services report also said that from March 15 through Saturday, a total of 105,298 people with measles and related symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 101,535 have so far been discharged from the hospital.
