Mismanagement at Chandpur Hospital, Civil Surgeon Ordered to Stand Release

Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain expressed strong dissatisfaction after having a surprise visit to the Haimchar Upazila Health Complex in Chandpur, where he observed mismanagement and the overall poor state of healthcare services. During the visit, he ordered the district's Civil Surgeon, Dr. Md. Nur Alam Din, to be placed on "stand release."

The Health Minister visited the Haimchar Upazila Health Complex this morning (Sunday) without any prior notice. He toured various sections of the hospital and assessed the overall management of healthcare services and the condition of patient care. During the inspection, several instances of mismanagement came to his attention. Expressing his displeasure over these issues, he issued necessary directives to those concerned. The minister also ordered that those responsible be brought to account for why such mismanagement exists in a important sector like healthcare. At that time, he issued the order to place Chandpur's Civil Surgeon, Nur Alam Din, on stand release.

Following the minister's directive, discussions have begun regarding the activities and oversight mechanisms of responsible officials within the district's health administration.

Local residents expect that the irregularities and mismanagement at this government health center will be identified and effective measures will be taken swiftly. This health complex is one of the primary sources of medical care for the general public at the upazila level. If management remains weak there, it is the patients from remote areas who suffer the most.

Observers believe that the health minister's surprise inspection and the order to stand-release the Civil Surgeon send a strong message about tightening supervision and accountability among those responsible for the district's healthcare management.
