Three more children die with measles symptoms

Three more children died across the country with measles symptoms in the 24 hours until 8 am Thursday. During the same period, 1,072 children were affected by measles or measles symptoms. However, no child died from confirmed measles infection.
The Directorate General of Health Services provided the information in its latest measles update issued Thursday afternoon.
According to the bulletin, 68 children were infected with measles in the 24-hour period. During this time, 950 children were newly admitted to hospitals, while 879 children were discharged.
From March 15 through August 20, the number of confirmed measles cases stood at 18,144, while the number of suspected measles cases stood at 146,715. A total of 123,684 children have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
With the latest deaths, a total of 826 children have died across the country with measles symptoms since March 15. Another 99 children have died after being infected with measles. In total, 925 children have died from measles and measles symptoms during this period.
Meanwhile, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain said Thursday that although diseases such as measles and dengue have emerged simultaneously in the country, the government is not concerned about the situation.
He made the remarks at an event held at the auditorium of the Dhaka South City Corporation Nagar Bhaban. The Directorate General of Health Services organized the event to inaugurate the “Preventive Oral Cholera Vaccination Campaign 2026.”
