Measles takes away six more lives across Bangladesh

Six more lives have been lost to measles and its symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours (from 8:00 AM Tuesday to 8:00 AM Wednesday). During this period, 1,408 new cases of measles and related symptoms were reported. This information was disclosed in the regular report of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday (May 20).
According to the DGHS, one person each died with measles symptoms in the Dhaka, Sylhet, and Khulna divisions within a single day, totaling 3 deaths. Additionally, during this same period, 2 people died from confirmed measles in the Barisal division, and another person passed away in the Dhaka division. With these new numbers, a total of 481 people have died nationwide from measles and its symptoms from March 15 to Wednesday.
Meanwhile, 138 new cases of measles were confirmed across the country in the last 24 hours. Furthermore, 1,270 individuals showed symptoms of the disease during this time. This brings the total number of people experiencing measles symptoms to 57,856 from March 15 to Wednesday.
