Seven More Children Die in a Single Day from Measles Symptoms

At least seven more children have died in the past 24 hours, from 8 pm Friday to 8 am Saturday, across the country due to complications linked to measles symptoms, according to health authorities.
The deaths were reported between Friday morning and Saturday morning, while 887 new suspected cases of measles and related symptoms were identified during the same period, the Directorate General of Health Services said in its regular bulletin on Saturday.
Since March 15, a total of 677 children have died nationwide after developing measles symptoms. Of them, 93 deaths have been confirmed as directly caused by Measles, while 584 deaths are categorized as suspected or symptom-related cases.
During the same period, 10,949 cases have been laboratory-confirmed as measles infections, while 91,789 patients have been treated in hospitals with suspected symptoms.
Health officials said the highest number of infections and deaths has been recorded in the Dhaka division, where 304 deaths and 49,783 cases have been reported so far.
