4 more children die with Measles-like symptoms

The grim march of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms shows no sign of ceasing. In the last 24 hours (from 8:00 am Monday to 8:00 am Tuesday), four more children have died with measles-like symptoms. Since March 15, over a period of more than four months, the total number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms has reached 797.
The Directorate General of Health Services provided these details in its measles-related report on Tuesday.
On June 26, the death toll of children from measles and measles-like symptoms crossed 700, with 702 deaths recorded. Within 26 days of that milestone, the death toll is now on the verge of reaching 800.
Among the four children who died in the past 24 hours, two were from Sylhet, one from Rajshahi, and one from Mymensingh.
In the last 24 hours, 1,008 children were affected by measles and measles-like symptoms. Of these, measles was confirmed in 130 children. Since March 15, a total of 134,156 children have been affected over the more than four-month period, among whom 14,708 have been diagnosed with confirmed measles cases.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, 102,244 children have been admitted to hospitals with measles-like symptoms since March 15 this year. Of them, 98,411 children have recovered and returned home.
