Protesters block Shahbagh intersection

Students have blocked the Shahbagh intersection to press their three-point demand, including the resignation of the education minister. They blocked the intersection at around 6 pm on Wednesday.
Earlier on Wednesday, the protesting students began a long march toward the Secretariat after staging a road blockade and demonstration for about half an hour at the Science Laboratory intersection. They remained at the Education Building intersection until around 6 pm After nearly two hours of demonstrations, the protesters left the area. Police then removed the barricades from the road.
At around 6 pm, a group of students blocked the Shahbagh intersection. Vehicular movement through the intersection has remained suspended because of the blockade.
Shahadat, a student of Kabi Nazrul Government College who was present at Shahbagh, said, “Our demand is the resignation of the education minister. We will not stop our movement until our demand is met.”
The protesters’ three demands are: postponing the HSC and equivalent examinations until the disaster situation returns completely to normal; arranging a re-examination for students who were unable to sit for the July 13 exam because of adverse weather conditions; and the resignation of Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon.
