Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called for sharing sacrificial meat with underprivileged people who are unable to perform qurbani, saying it reflects the true spirit of Eid-ul-Azha. He also extended Eid greetings to Muslims in Bangladesh and across the world.
The Prime Minister delivered the message in a video address to the nation on Wednesday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
Extending Eid greetings in his message, he said Eid-ul-Azha has once again arrived carrying the message of sacrifice, devotion, and spiritual purification. “Eid Mubarak to everyone, regardless of party, faith, or background,” he said.
The Prime Minister said, “My humble request to those who are able to perform qurbani this year is to share the sacrificial meat with those who cannot afford to do so. This is one of the core teachings of sacrifice.”
He said qurbani is not limited to the slaughter of animals alone; rather, its main message is to overcome greed, jealousy, hatred, and the animalistic tendencies within the human mind. He expressed hope that this festival of sacrifice, dedicated to the pleasure of Allah, will guide people toward truth and goodness.
He also urged people to properly preserve the hides of sacrificial animals and assist sanitation workers in cleaning blood and waste from sacrificial sites. He encouraged citizens to take part in cleanliness drives so that the areas can be cleaned on the day of Eid itself.
The Prime Minister further called for cooperation with sanitation workers in the proper preservation of hides and prompt disposal of animal waste.
In conclusion, he prayed to Almighty Allah for peace, security, and stability for the country, the Muslim world, and all of humanity.
