Two new trains added to Gopalganj route

A pair of new trains named the ‘Abhijatri Commuter’ has been launched on the Dhaka Gopalganj Dhaka route via the Padma Bridge. Railway Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam inaugurated the two trains at Dhaka Kamalapur Railway Station on Monday afternoon.

Through these trains, commuters including employees, students, businesspeople and general passengers from Gopalganj and surrounding areas will be able to travel to Dhaka every day at a low cost and with reliability and return to their respective areas after the workday. As a result, the tendency toward permanent residence in the capital will decrease, while the existing pressure on housing, traffic congestion and urban services in Dhaka will also be reduced, the railway said.

According to railway sources, train number 135 Abhijatri Commuter will leave Dhaka for Gopalganj at 3:30 pm, arrive in Gopalganj at 6:45 pm, and train number 136 Abhijatri Commuter will leave Gopalganj at 7:15 pm and arrive in Dhaka at 10:25 pm. The train has eight coaches with a total of 630 seats.

The 148 kilometer route between Dhaka and Gopalganj will have seven scheduled stops. The stations between Dhaka and Gopalganj are Keraniganj, Srinagar, Mawa, Bhanga Junction, Nagarkanda, Maheshpur and Kashiani Junction.

The train will remain closed every Saturday.
