Truck-auto rickshaw collision kills three in Gazipur

Three people were killed in a collision between a truck and a battery powered e rickshaw in Gazipur. The incident took place Wednesday afternoon in the Dhirashram area of Gazipur. The e rickshaw was mangled in the crash.

According to eyewitnesses and local sources, a truck heading toward Joydebpur collided head on with a battery powered auto rickshaw coming from the opposite direction on a road near G K Adarsha High School. Three passengers of the e rickshaw were killed at the scene. The identities of the victims could not be immediately confirmed.

Gazipur Sadar Police Station Officer in Charge Aminul Islam said, “Three people were killed in a head on collision between a truck and an e rickshaw.”

Truck driver Shahid Ali Sarman has been detained in connection with the incident.

The bodies were recovered and sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he added.
