Prime Minister returns home

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has returned home after attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The Emirates flight EK 582 carrying the prime minister, his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman and members of his delegation departed Dubai International Airport for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:15 am Dubai time today, Sunday.

The flight arrived in Dhaka at 8:30 am today, Sunday.

The prime minister left New York on 25 September after delivering his first speech at the general debate of the 81st session of the UNGA and holding a series of high level bilateral and multilateral meetings.

During his four-day program in New York, the prime minister took part in 30 official engagements.

Of these, 11 were bilateral meetings with 11 countries, Prime Minister’s Adviser and Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson Mahdi Amin said at a press briefing held before the prime minister’s return to Dhaka.

The meetings focused on Bangladesh’s national interests, trade and investment, manpower exports, energy security, regional cooperation, the Rohingya crisis, health, climate change and international peace.
