Government to Pursue Recovery of Benazir’s Illegal Assets

Exchanges views with expatriate journalists in Portugal
Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Health Affairs Dr. SM Ziauddin Haider is currently in Portugal to attend the 34th International Midwives Congress. During his visit, he met and exchanged views with expatriate journalists and media professionals. Portugal Bangla Press Club organized the event on Monday evening.
Dr. Ziauddin Haider is representing Bangladesh at the 34th Triennial Congress of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM).
During the discussion, he inquired about the overall situation of Bangladeshis living in Portugal and discussed various coordinated government initiatives aimed at the welfare of expatriates.
At the event, Amirul Islam, vice president of the Portugal Bangla Press Club, asked whether the government would take any steps to bring back to Bangladesh the illegal assets of Benazir Ahmed located in Portugal. The Special Assistant on Health Affairs said that the Bangladesh government would work on the matter.
Laila Muntajeri Dina, Charge d’Affaires of the Bangladesh Embassy in Portugal, and SM Golam Sarwar, Head of Chancery, attended the event.
Also present were Portugal Bangla Press Club President Russell Ahmed, former President Rony Mohammad, Vice President Amirul Islam Nayan, Organizing Secretary Hafiz Al Asad, advisers Zahid Kayser, Enamul Haque Khan, ABS Yamin, Nuruzzaman Selim, and Humayun Ahmed Srabon.
