‘Positive progress has been made,’ Sergio Gor says after meeting in Dhaka

US Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs Sergio Gor met with Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman.
He met with the foreign minister on Thursday evening at the state guest house Padma.
Officials concerned said discussions were held on strengthening bilateral cooperation between the United States and Bangladesh. According to sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the foreign minister and the US special envoy sat for the meeting with their respective delegations shortly after 6 pm Later, Gor spoke privately with Khalilur Rahman for about 20 minutes.
After meeting with the foreign minister, Sergio Gor wrote in a post on X, “During my first visit to Bangladesh, I was delighted to meet Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and discuss working together to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the United States and Bangladesh. Much positive progress has been made.”
US billionaire Sergio Gor is serving as the US ambassador to India. Trump also appointed him as the special envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs. He took office as the US ambassador to India in New Delhi last January.
Sergio Gor arrived in Dhaka Thursday afternoon for a three day visit.
