A six-member high-level advisory committee formed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) will hold discussions with teachers, students, and administrative officers and employees to resolve the ongoing deadlock at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) and resume classes.

In the ensuing Wednesday, committee members will visit CUET and hold discussions with the university's relevant stakeholders. At that time, they will listen to their statements, opinions, and proposals and review the university's current situation.

A notice was issued on Monday by the UGC's Public University Management Division to this end. The notice requested all concerned to be present at the CUET campus according to the scheduled time.

According to the notice, committee members will meet with teachers from 10 am to 11 am and with students from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on Wednesday. In addition, the time for meeting with officers has been set from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm and with employees from 3:30 pm to 4 pm.

Following a memo from the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education dated October 18, the UGC formed this six-member advisory committee on October 19 as part of an initiative to resolve the CUET deadlock and resume classes. UGC full-time member Professor Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun has been made the convener of the committee.

The committee will review the overall situation of the university based on its visit to CUET and discussions with relevant stakeholders. At the same time, it will formulate necessary recommendations for resuming classes, restoring the normal environment for education, and improving the quality of institutional activities.
