Posters declaring Patwary unwelcome put up at Dhaka College

A section of leaders and activists of the Dhaka College unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal put up posters across the Dhaka College campus declaring National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary unwelcome.
The posters were put up on Monday morning at the college’s administrative building, the main gate, and different parts of the campus, alleging that he had spread ‘propaganda against the BNP.’ However, to maintain a normal environment, the college administration removed the posters shortly afterward.
The posters carried various statements under the title, “Nasiruddin Patwary Declared Unwelcome at Dhaka College.”
Sheikh Parvez Mosharraf, former member of the convener committee of Dhaka College Chhatra Dal whose position has been suspended, who led the poster campaign, said, “Nasiruddin Patwary has been declared unwelcome and posters have been put up because of his antisocial remarks. He is spreading division and hatred in society. This kind of politics is not acceptable.”
Criticizing the poster campaign, Sajib Uddin, member secretary of the Dhaka College unit of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti, said, “Dhaka College is not the exclusive property of any individual or political party. No one has the authority to declare anyone unwelcome here. Political differences may exist, but this kind of program is not acceptable.”
Regarding the incident, Dhaka College Principal Professor AKM Elius said, “I did not personally see the posters. I learned that posters had been put up in one or two places. They were removed immediately by sending people. We do not want the political environment on the campus to become unstable in any way.”
On July 28 in Habiganj, the motorcade of Nasiruddin Patwary and Sarjis Alam came under attack and was vandalized during the NCP’s July March program demanding the implementation of the reform and referendum verdict of the mass uprising. Following the incident, the NCP accused local leaders and activists of the BNP and Chhatra Dal.
On the other hand, the BNP claimed that Nasiruddin Patwary was deliberately trying to damage the image of the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and the BNP. As a continuation of that, some leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations in different parts of the country have been carrying out programs to boycott and declare Nasiruddin Patwary ‘unwelcome.’
