All records of the seven government colleges were formally handed over to Dhaka Central University at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room at Dhaka University on Wednesday

Dhaka University has handed over all data and records related to the administrative and academic activities of the seven government colleges in the capital to Dhaka Central University (DCU).

The handover was formally completed on Wednesday (October 14) at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room at Dhaka University. With this transfer, Dhaka University no longer has any academic or administrative ties with the seven government colleges.

Wishing the students of Central University overall success at the event, Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam said, ‘The formal transfer of the data and records of the seven colleges’ students from Dhaka University to Dhaka Central University will further accelerate the academic activities of this new university. Dhaka University’s cooperation will continue in the future for the development of Dhaka Central University and the overall welfare of its students.’

Thanking the Dhaka University authorities for transferring the students’ data and records within the shortest possible time, Dhaka Central University Vice Chancellor Professor Md. Lutfor Rahman said, ‘Various initiatives have been taken to ensure the overall welfare of Dhaka Central University’s students and further accelerate its academic activities. I seek everyone’s cooperation in implementing these initiatives.’

Those present at the event included Dhaka University Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Pro Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Mohammad Almozaddeddi Alfechani, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dhaka Central University Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Salma Begum and Treasurer Professor Dr. Borhan Uddin, among others.

Earlier, on February 16, 2017, the seven government colleges in Dhaka were formally brought under the affiliation of Dhaka University. Before that, the colleges were under the National University.

However, in January 2025, Dhaka University authorities announced that the seven colleges would be separated from the university’s affiliation. As part of that process, all records concerning the students and institutions of the seven colleges were formally handed over to Dhaka Central University today.
