The Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF), in collaboration with St. Joseph International School, organised a three-day One-Minute Mobile Filmmaking Workshop for students from Grades 6 to 12 at the school, beginning on October 30.
The workshop introduced students to the fundamentals of filmmaking using mobile phones and encouraged them to explore creative storytelling through short films.
Mohammed Farhad Hossain Fahad conducted the workshop and introduced participants to basic filmmaking techniques. Students learned how to develop stories, write and revise scripts, communicate ideas through visuals and edit footage to produce complete films.
Syeda Sadia Mehjabin and Shafik Mannan attended the workshop as guests.
On the first day, participants were divided into five teams named Dramatic Disorders, Grade 8 Filming Work, Film Making Workshop Group, Tong Bhai Production and Experiment 9.
Each team was assigned a line producer from DIMFF. They were Atkia Mysha Promita, Umme Efteda, Israt Jahan Yasha, Afifa Marzuka and Sharifa Sultana Shawon. The line producers guided the teams through different stages of film production.
The first day focused on story development and scriptwriting, with students working to turn their ideas into film narratives. The teams conducted filming on the second day and completed the editing process on the third day, producing their respective one-minute films.
On the final day, all five films were screened before the participants. Every student subsequently received a certificate of participation in recognition of their involvement and efforts throughout the workshop.
The initiative reflected DIMFF’s motto, “New Generation, New Tools, New Communication,” highlighting the use of mobile technology as a tool for creative storytelling.
Through the collaboration, DIMFF provided students with hands-on filmmaking experience and encouraged them to bring their original ideas to the screen.
