A major collapse occurred in the number of students achieving GPA-5 in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations. Compared to last year, the number of students securing the GPA-5 has decreased by more than 22,000.

While 1,39,032 students achieved GPA-5 in 2025, that number dropped to 1,16,676 this year. Despite the overall decline, female students continue to outperform male students in the GPA-5 category.

Among the total GPA-5 recipients, 63,896 are girls and 52,780 are boys, meaning 11,116 more girls achieved the top grade than boys.

In 2025, the number of female students who secured a GPA-5 was 73,616, while the number of male students was 65,416. As a result, the total number of GPA-5 earners has decreased by 22,356 compared to the previous year.

The number of female GPA-5 achievers dropped by 9,720, while male achievers fell by 12,636. Although the count of GPA-5 has seen a sharp overall decline, girls remain numerically ahead, a gap that has become even more distinct this year.

The pass rate in the 2025 SSC and equivalent examinations was 68.45 percent, which was a decrease of 14.95 percentage points compared to the 83.4 percent recorded in 2024.

For this year, a total of 18,57,344 examinees participated under the country’s 11 education boards. This group included 9,30,305 male students and 9,27,039 female students.

These candidates represented 30,666 educational institutions and sat for their exams across 3,885 centers.

Among the examinees, 14,18,318 students appeared under the General Education Boards, 3,03,286 students sat for the Dakhil examination under the Madrasa Education Board, and 1,34,660 students participated under the Technical Education Board.
