DU’s 105th Founding Anniversary Tomorrow

The University of Dhaka will celebrate its 105th founding anniversary and University of Dhaka Day 2026 on Wednesday with a daylong series of events across the campus.
This year’s theme is “Restoring Democracy and the University of Dhaka in Higher Education.”
According to the university administration, faculty members, students, officers, and staff will gather at 9:30 am at the Smriti Chirantan plaza in front of the Vice Chancellor’s Office. The gathering will be attended by the university’s vice chancellors, treasurer, registrar, Senate and Syndicate members, deans, hall provosts, proctorial officials, department chairs, institute directors, as well as representatives from the Dhaka University Alumni Association, DUCSU, and other organizations.
At 9:45 am, a colorful procession led by the vice chancellor will begin at Smriti Chirantan, parade through the campus, and conclude at the Teacher-Student Center (TSC).
The official inauguration will take place at 10:00 am at the TSC premises, where the vice chancellor will raise the national flag, the university flag, and hall flags, followed by the release of pigeons, balloons, and festoons. The university’s two pro-vice chancellors and the treasurer will attend as special guests.
Following the opening ceremony, a special discussion session will begin at 10:30 am in the TSC Auditorium.
Professor Emeritus Dr. A. F. Serajul Islam Chowdhury of the Department of English will present the keynote paper on this year’s theme. Invited speakers will then share their views and discuss the keynote presentation.The university administration has requested the participation of all concerned to help ensure the successful observance of the anniversary celebrations.
