Education secretary visits Yunnan University in China

Abdul Khaleque, senior secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education, visited Yunnan University in Kunming, China. The information was disclosed in a press release on Tuesday.
During the visit, discussions were held on expanding educational cooperation between Bangladesh and China, faculty and student exchanges, joint research and skills development.
Professor Ma Wenhui, president of Yunnan University, welcomed the education secretary. He expressed the university's interest in further expanding educational cooperation with Bangladesh.
Professor Ma Wenhui said the university was ready to expand Chinese language training programs for Bangladeshi students and teachers. The institution is also interested in introducing curricula that combine Chinese language education with technical skills.
He proposed developing long-term cooperation in various fields, including education, medical sciences, biological sciences, tourism, artificial intelligence (AI) and anthropology. He also identified the establishment of joint laboratories and the implementation of collaborative research projects as important areas for future partnerships.
Senior Secretary Abdul Khaleque praised the longstanding and cordial academic relationship between Bangladesh and Yunnan University.
He said Bangladesh was placing particular emphasis on expanding quality technical education and Chinese language learning. To achieve these goals, Bangladesh is interested in strengthening institutional cooperation, faculty and student exchanges and joint training programs.
Abdul Khaleque said Bangladesh expected practical progress in joint research and capacity building under the proposed cooperation framework. He also expressed hope that these initiatives would benefit young students and researchers in both countries.
During the visit, the education secretary invited Professor Ma Wenhui to visit Bangladesh. He also welcomed Yunnan University to establish partnerships with Bangladeshi educational institutions in education, skills development, research and other related fields.
