10 friends together for 14 years, all achieve Golden A Plus

Their journey began in 2012 when they enrolled at a school in Eskaton, Dhaka. In 2016, their bond became even stronger when all 10 friends were admitted to Viqarunnisa Noon School and College through a lottery. Now, after 14 years of friendship, they have added a remarkable achievement to their journey: all 10 friends have earned GPA 5, or Golden A Plus, in the SSC examination.
The joyful scene was seen at Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in the capital following the SSC results published today, Monday. This year, a total of 2,116 students from the institution’s three groups took the examination, with 2,073 passing. Among them, 1,115 students achieved GPA 5, while the pass rate was 97.97 percent.
After the results were published at 10:00 am, students began gathering on the school premises around 11:00 am. They erupted in celebration as they received news of their results one after another. Among them were several of the 10 friends and members of their families. Their excitement was remarkable to see.
Recalling the anxiety moments before learning their results, Jummi Hossain said, “I was extremely worried since last night. My fear grew even more as my friends kept calling every now and then. But after receiving the results, I saw that the marks in every subject were above 90. Along with our efforts, our parents played a very significant role in this achievement.”
Student Salma Haque Tahira said the success came after overcoming various challenges in their studies following the coronavirus pandemic. She said, “Our studies were somewhat affected after the coronavirus pandemic, and taking the examination under the shortened syllabus was also stressful. However, we were all able to overcome that pressure together.”
Sayra Hasan believes the greatest joy is that all the friends were able to succeed together. She said, “The best thing is that no one left anyone behind. We went through school and college together, and we also attended coaching together. We used to discuss our studies in our Messenger group so that everyone could prepare in the best possible way within a short time. Finally, we are all able to smile together.”
The parents are also thrilled by their children’s success. A parent named Mridha Mahfuzur Rahman said, “We are part of the same community. Their friendship among the 10 of them dates back to their school days. From there, friendships also developed among us parents. Today, everyone has achieved excellent results together, so there is no reason for anyone to feel bad. May they always be able to achieve success together like this. As parents, we are all extremely happy and proud.”
