Beauty Pal, a schoolteacher of Fenchuganj, Sylhet, had made a reel video featuring a song. That one small video has made her the talk of the country. Arrows of criticism have been coming her way. However, she has not been left completely alone. Many have come forward to stand by her. The schoolteacher expressed her gratitude to them all.
Beauty said, "Everyone has stood by me, for which I am grateful."
The schoolteacher, however, did not wish to say anything to her critics. She also did not elaborate on the video itself. She only said, "I cannot say anything about the matter right now."
Beauty Pal made it clear that she would need permission from higher authorities before making any statement.
Last Thursday afternoon, Beauty Pal posted a few-second reel from her Facebook ID featuring the song "Aj Keno Mon Udashi Hoye" sung by Different Touch. In the video, she is seen walking around the school premises in a saree and striking various poses.
Within a short time, the video spread across social media, sparking widespread discussion and criticism.
After the video went viral, many criticized her on social media. Some even demanded administrative action. Later, Beauty removed the video from Facebook.
However, following the incident, fellow teachers, writers, journalists, and people from various professions have stood by the teacher. They have expressed solidarity with Beauty by condemning the trolling and cyberbullying on social media.
Regarding Beauty, who made the reel with this song, Different Touch's lead vocalist Mejbah Rahman said, "We always place teachers right after our parents. In that context, teachers do have to observe certain boundaries for the sake of their students. However, what is being done regarding this reel video is absolutely undesirable."
"To me, it didn't seem negative at all. I really don't understand what immoral thing a certain group actually found in it. We cannot deny social media at all; we have to resort to it whether there is a reason or not. So, blaming someone just by looking at one side of it is not the right thing to do."
Due to this incident, the Fenchuganj education department will form an inquiry committee to investigate the entire matter. Mohammad Sohel Mollah, the Fenchuganj Upazila Education Officer, told Agamir Somoy, "The matter has come to our attention. Discussions have been held with higher authorities. As a primary decision, an initiative has been taken to form an inquiry committee."
However, Mejbah Rahman said, "If action is actually taken against that teacher over this, the matter might not be handled correctly. I think it should be viewed with flexibility. Because it was not a negative video."
