BNP Leader Injured in Knife Attack in Dhaka

A local BNP leader was seriously injured after being attacked with sharp weapons in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area on Friday afternoon.
Noor Islam, senior joint secretary of Ward 33 of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), was attacked on Road No. 4 in the Satmosjid Housing area, according to police and witnesses.
Family members later rescued him in critical condition and took him to a hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses said four assailants arrived on two motorcycles and suddenly attacked Noor Islam in public, striking him with sharp weapons before fleeing the scene, leaving him severely wounded.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Jewel Rana of Mohammadpur Zone under Dhaka Metropolitan Police said police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) units are conducting operations in possible locations to arrest those involved.
