Cumilla Awami League leader Nasir arrested in Dhaka

The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested Md. Nasir Uddin (52), a leader of the Awami League, an organization whose activities are banned.
Nasir is a member of the Cumilla North District Committee and joint general secretary of the Titas Upazila Awami League.
He is the son of former member Md. Farid Uddin from Kalachankandi village in Kalakandi Union of Titas Upazila.
He was arrested from Bashundhara City Shopping Complex in Dhaka on Saturday night and handed over to Titas Police Station.
Titas Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Momirul Haque confirmed the arrest.
He said Nasir is an accused named in the case filed over the attack on students and members of the public during the anti-discrimination movement. He had been absconding for a long time in the case.
He was sent to jail through the court on Sunday morning.
