2 JCD leaders expelled over fight over house rent at JU

The central committee of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has expelled two leaders of the Jahangirnagar University unit over two incidents of fighting and scuffling following a dispute over renting a sublet house and paying bills in the Ambagan area adjacent to the university.
The information was confirmed in a notice signed by JCD Central Office Secretary Md Jahangir Alam, who holds the rank of vice president, on Saturday.
The expelled leaders are Jahangirnagar University unit JCD Joint Convener Shafiqul Islam Shafik and student leader and activist Russell Khandaker.
The notice said that according to a decision of the central committee, Jahangirnagar University unit JCD Joint Convener Shafiqul Islam was expelled from his post and student leader Russell Khandaker was expelled from his primary membership based on specific allegations of violating organizational discipline. JCD Central President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir approved the expulsions.
On the evening of 29 September, Tuesday, the first incident of an argument and scuffle took place between JCD unit Joint Convener Shafiqul Islam Shafik and activist Russell Khandaker in the Ambagan area adjacent to Jahangirnagar University over renting a sublet house and paying bills. Later at around 9 pm, a second incident of clashes and fighting took place between their followers at Murad Chattar on the university campus. The central committee took disciplinary action against them over allegations of violating organizational discipline following the incidents.
