Dhaka writes to Delhi seeking extradition of condemned prisoner Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal

Dhaka has sent a letter to Delhi requesting the return of former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, who was sentenced to death for his role in the genocide committed during the July uprising.
A source related to the International Crimes Tribunal confirmed the matter today (Monday).
Ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and then Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun were made accused in a case filed over crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising.
Following the judicial process, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 delivered its verdict on November 17, 2025. The tribunal found Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal guilty of crimes against humanity and sentenced them to death. The verdict stated that they were responsible for the actions of the security forces under the principle of "superior command responsibility."
In the same case, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who became an approver (state witness), was sentenced to five years in prison. Later, the tribunal published the full 453-page verdict, which also ordered the confiscation of property belonging to Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal in favor of the state
