The prosecution has sought the maximum punishment for seven accused, including Obaidul Quader, the then Road Transport and Bridges Minister and General Secretary of the Awami League, in a case involving crimes against humanity committed during the July Mass Uprising.

Chief Prosecutor Md. Aminul Islam spoke to journalists after completing arguments at the International Crimes Tribunal today, Wednesday.

At the same time, the prosecution has prayed for an order to confiscate their assets.

Alongside Obaidul Quader, the other accused in the case are: A. F. M. Bahauddin Nasim, Joint General Secretary of the now-banned Awami League; Mohammad A. Arafat, former State Minister for Information; Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, President of Jubo League, and Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, its General Secretary; and Saddam Hussain, President of the banned terrorist organization Chhatra League, along with its General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan.
