A mobile court sealed a diagnostic center in Paltan, Dhaka over allegations of conducting health examinations and issuing medical reports for Malaysia-bound workers without government approval on Thursday.
Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment confirmed the matter in a press release on Friday morning. During a drive in the Box Culvert area, the operations of Human Diagnostic and Medical Centre were shut down.
Upon reviewing the institution’s database, it was revealed that medical examinations were conducted and reports were issued for 14 Malaysia-bound individuals from 20 September to 30 September.
However, the institution had no government approval to conduct such activities. Moreover, authorities found evidence of fraudulent activities being run in the same building using the signboard of another institution named Samiha Diagnostic Centre alongside Human Diagnostic and Medical Centre.
Expatriates’ Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury said, “The government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against irregularities, fraud, and unauthorized activities in the overseas employment sector. No institution will be allowed to defraud Malaysia-bound workers.”
He added that legal action will be taken against institutions issuing fake or fraudulent medical reports to workers going abroad. To protect the interests of workers and ensure transparency, drives and mobile court operations will continue across the country.
