Chhatradal leader’s body found by highway 4 hours into abduction

Police have recovered the body of a Chhatradal leader from Chakaria, along Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway. His body was recovered around 3:00 AM Sunday, from the Medhakachhapia area at Khutakhali of the highway.
Earlier, around 12:00 midnight, he was picked up in a white Noah microbus as he was returning home.
His family claims he was systematically abducted, murdered, and his body dumped by the roadside.
The deceased Chattradal leader has been identified as Isfatul Islam Jishan (27), son of Nazem Uddin from Dakshin Lotoni village in Kakara Union under the upazila. He served as the Senior Joint Convener of the Kakara Union Chattradal.
The information was confirmed by Arifur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chakaria Police Station.
Citing the victim's family, the OC said that around midnight on Sunday, a gang of miscreants abducted Jishan in a white Noah microbus from the Kakara area. Upon receiving the news, family members began searching for him. Later, around 3:00 AM, police recovered his body from the Khutakhali Medhakachhapia area.
Chhatradal leaders alleged that Jishan was taken to an unknown location after the abduction and tortured. He was subsequently killed, stuffed into a jute sack, and dumped into bushes beside the highway.
They also claimed that Jishan was tortured for several hours at Kabir Tower, located in the Sabujbagh residential area of Chakaria Municipality.
In connection with the incident, an audio clip involving Mizan—the younger brother of Kabir Tower's owner, Mohammad Zakaria—went viral on Facebook. In the audio, Mizan was heard threatening to abduct Jishan and chop him into 14 pieces.
Rezaul Karim Bappi, President of the Chakaria Upazila Chhatradal, said Jishan was tortured and systematically murdered following his abduction. He demanded the identification and arrest of those involved within 24 hours, warning that failure to do so would lead to student-led protests.
OC Arifur Rahman said that multiple police teams are working to unravel the murder mystery. Marks of injury were found on his neck and forehead during the inquest. Police are actively investigating why he was abducted and who was behind the crime.
