Teenage Rape: 3 accused sentenced to death, 3 others to life imprisonment

A court in Thakurgaon has sentenced three rapists to death over violating a 14-year-old girl. Consequently, three other convicted have been sentenced to life imprisonment.
The verdict was delivered on Sunday afternoon in this 15-year-old case by Judge Ali Mansur, the District Judge and Judge of the Thakurgaon Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal. State Prosecutor Advocate Md. Badiuzzaman Chowdhury Badal confirmed the details.
The accused sentenced to death are Md. Anis Rana, Md. Saiful Islam, and Md. Dulal. They have also been fined Tk 2 lakh each. Additionally, the court ordered that they will not receive any remission (sentence reduction) benefits under Section 35(A) of the Criminal Procedure Code or the Jail Code.
Those sentenced to life imprisonment are Md. Anichur, Md. Khatibur Khotu, and Md. Lalu. Each has also been fined Tk 1 lakh, with an additional one year of rigorous imprisonment in default of payment.
Five of the accused were present in court at the time of the verdict. An arrest warrant has been issued for the absconding accused, Anis Rana.
Case documents state that on October 21, 2011, the teenager was abducted and gang-raped in the South Salandar area of Sadar Upazila. Four days after the incident, the victim's father filed a case with the Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station. After a long trial process, the verdict was delivered in this case nearly 15 years later.
