The Directorate General of Forces Intelligence and Dhaka Customs House have seized at least 16 kilograms of gold bars cleverly concealed inside fruit crates at the Cargo Village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The consignment was confiscated today (Sunday) during a joint operation conducted based on intelligence inputs.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a smuggling ring was attempting to smuggle the gold using imported fruit shipments as cover.
According to sources, acting on a tip, a section of Cargo Village was raided, leading to the recovery of the gold bars that had been specially hidden inside the fruit crates. The total amount of recovered gold is known to be at least 16 kg. Operations to identify and arrest those involved in the incident are ongoing. Additionally, investigations are underway to determine the actual owner of the gold, the source of the shipment, and the smuggling ring connected to it. Further details regarding the matter will be provided later.
