Bangladesh Air Force (retd) flight Lt KM Tahsif Souri’s father AKM Enayetul Karim filed a case over his death. Tahsif’s business partner and friend Shahriar Reza Dwip has been shown arrested in this case.
Enayetul filed the case against unnamed accused at Uttarkhan Police Station on Saturday midnight. Uttarkhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Habibur Rahman confirmed this information to Agamir Somoy.
Although earlier, Enayetul had hinted at not filing a case. He said, “We have not yet made any decision regarding filing a case. We will make further decisions after discussing it as a family. Filing a case in our country means running around courts and various kinds of hassle. Who wants to voluntarily get involved in such troubles?”
He added, “Since Tahsif was an officer of the Bangladesh Air Force, I hope the government will view the matter of his death with seriousness. Uncovering the truth of his death and identifying those responsible behind it - that is our expectation that the government will work sincerely.”
Earlier, on 27 October, Tahsif Souri went missing after leaving home. The following day, Wednesday, his body was recovered from the Turag River.
Afterward, upon arriving at the Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue to collect the body, Enayetul said, “My son is not the kind of person to commit suicide. Tahsif was murdered, and his body was thrown into the river.”
In connection with this incident, police took Tahsif’s “friend” Dwip into custody for questioning. Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Inspector Syed Sazedur Rahman said alongside the River Police, the PBI is also conducting a shadow investigation into Tahsif’s death. As part of the investigation, Dwip was brought in for questioning.
However, investigators have informed that during interrogation, Dwip has been giving conflicting statements at different times. At times he said Tahsif left for home after leaving him in front of his residence, and that they separated around 12 am in the House Building area.
Later, he said again they got separated from the Tongi Mazar Slum area. Then he added that Tahsif jumped into the river after being chased by a group of people.
PBI Dhaka Metro North Additional DIG Md Enayet Hossain Mannan said, “All information provided by Dwip is being verified and scrutinized. He is claiming that someone wearing police uniform chased them. Who chased them is being investigated. Whether they were drug addicts will be known after the autopsy. He has said many things, but everything is being verified.”
