An eight-year-old child named Ramisa Akhter was raped and murdered in the capital's Pallabi. The main accused in the case, Sohel Rana, has given a confessional statement in court. Today, Wednesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Junaid recorded his statement and ordered him to be sent to jail.
In the same case, Metropolitan Magistrate Ashraful Haque sent Sohel's wife, Swapna Akhter, to jail. This information was confirmed by public prosecutor Muhammad Shamsuddoha Suman.
According to court sources, the two accused were produced before the court. Subsequently, the case's investigating officer, Pallabi Police Station Sub-Inspector Ohiduzzaman, applied to record Sohel's confessional statement and to keep Swapna detained in jail. Earlier on Tuesday, Swapna Akhter was arrested first. Later, police arrested Sohel Rana from Fatullah in Narayanganj.
According to the case details, Ramisa lived with her family in an apartment in the Section-11 area of Pallabi. She was a second-grade student at Popular Model High School. Sohel and Swapna lived in another flat of the same building. When Ramisa left her home around 9:30 AM on Tuesday, the accused craftily took her to a room on the third floor of the five-story building.
Around 10:30 AM, while searching for Ramisa so she could go to school, her mother spotted her near the accused individuals' room and called out to her. Receiving no response, Ramisa's mother entered the flat along with other residents of the building. Inside Sohel and Swapna's bedroom, they found Ramisa's headless body and her head inside a bucket. Swapna was standing there. Following the incident, the child's father, Abdul Hannan Mollah, filed a case against the two individuals at Pallabi Police Station on Tuesday.
