Quadruple Murders in Rangpur: Relatives allege evidence tampering

Relatives of an accused individual have alleged that evidence was tampered with by washing the roof of Ganapati Chakraborty's house with water following the four murders in Rangpur. However, police claimed that the roof was not washed intentionally; instead, the water tank overflowed and wet the roof because a water pump switch was turned on by mistake.
Earlier, relatives of the accused, Siddhartha Das, claimed that the roof of the deceased's house had been washed with water. Upon receiving this allegation, Metropolitan Detective Police Deputy Commissioner Sanatan Chakraborty inspected the scene around 10:00 PM.
Partha Das, the elder brother of the arrested Siddhartha, stated that after Wednesday evening, the lights in the house were turned off. At that time, he noticed water dripping from the roof. When he asked the police officers on duty about the matter, they informed him that the pump had been switched on by mistake, causing the tank to overflow. He further claimed that the police officers requested him not to mention this to anyone else.
Denying the allegation, Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Hakim, who was on duty, said that the motor switch had been turned on by mistake. Once the tank filled up and started overflowing, it was turned off. He said that the claim of evidence destruction is inaccurate.
Metropolitan Detective Police Deputy Commissioner Sanatan Chakraborty said, "One of the police officers tasked with securing the house accidentally flipped the motor switch instead of the light switch, causing the water to overflow. Seeing the motor running and water falling, they went upstairs and turned it off. Nothing else happened here." He added that all evidence had already been secured during the retrieval of the bodies.
Earlier, on Saturday night, the bodies of Ganapati Chakraborty (65), his wife Preetilata Chakraborty (50), their postgraduate student daughter Agami Chakraborty (25), and their fifth-grade student son Priyam Chakraborty (12) were recovered from their residence in the Machhuapara area of Rangpur city. Police confirmed that all four individuals were suffocated to death.
