Air Force (retd) Flight Lt Tahsif Souri’s inquest report said there were no marks of injury on his body although blood was coming out of his nose.
Tongi River Police Outpost SI Mostafizur Rahman prepared the inquest report and Agamir Somoy received it on Thursday afternoon. A watch was found on Tahsif’s hand and an iPhone in his pocket. His identity was verified through the phone.
The body was sent to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy.
According to hospital sources, Tahsif’s autopsy was completed around 2:30 pm. Afterwards, the body was handed over to his father, Enayetul Karim.
Earlier, on Wednesday around 4:45 pm, Tahsif’s body was recovered from the Rajabari River Ghat area under Uttarkhan Police Station in Dhaka.
Tongi River Police Outpost Officer-in-Charge Md Firoz Uddin said after receiving information on the national emergency service number 999, the police recovered Tahsif’s body from the Turag River. The cause of Tahsif’s death can be said after receiving the autopsy report.
He added that Tahsif lived with his family in a flat in Sector 18 of Uttara and went missing on Tuesday.
Tahsif’s name had come into discussion in connection with the release of the video of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina who fled the country to India on 5 August 2024.
After the news of Tahsif’s death spread, his college and BMA coursemate KSM Intisar Injimam wrote on Facebook post, “Tahsif was missing since leaving home the night before yesterday.”
He added that although there was mud on the hands in the picture of the body, the rest of the body was clean.
Intisar claimed that unless this is clearly proven to be an accident or personal conflict, he views it as a political murder. He informed that although Tahsif suffered defamation in various ways following the video leak on 5 August, there was no formal police case against him.
