Police Attacked During Illegal Slum Eviction Drive in Mirpur

Tense and unexpected clashes broke out during an eviction drive in the capital's Mirpur vicinity. On-duty police personnel faced a sudden attack by slum residents while conducting the operation.
The incident took place today, Wednesday, on the ECB-Kalshi road in Mirpur.
According to police, people had built structures and were living illegally on land owned by the Public Works Department (PWD) in the Baunia Bandh area. Around 12:00 PM today, a police team accompanied a PWD executive magistrate to conduct an eviction drive in the slum. During the operation, the slum dwellers launched an attack on both the PWD officials and the police.
Several police personnel were reportedly injured in the incident. Mostak Sarkar, Deputy Commissioner of the Mirpur Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), stated, "Five to six police personnel were injured in this incident."
